Leadership Team

 

                                 Rev. George H Lewis, Pastor

As Senior Pastor of Howell First United Methodist Church Rev. Lewis brings over twenty years of experience to the ministry.  He serves the Detroit Annual Conference as an ordained elder with a Masters of Divinity Degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. His focus and expertise is on evangelistic family outreach. His undergraduate degree is from Asbury College where he majored in Bible and                                                    minored in Greek.

 

Diane Griffin, Director of Christian Education

Diane has been at Howell FUMC since 2006 and has over 20 years experience in Christian ministry. She holds a Masters Degree in Christian Education and Church Music from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Western Michigan University. She spent 7 years working as a missionary in Peru and Costa Rica and 9 years with the Outdoor and Retreat Ministries of the Detroit Conference prior to coming to Howell FUMC. She is currently working on a Masters in TESOL at Eastern Michigan University and speaks fluent Spanish. She and her husband, Kevin, have been married since 1989.

 

Scott Hardy, Youth Director

Scott Hardy grew up in Bay City, MI. Scott received his call to ministry while chaperoning a youth mission trip in 2004. He served as youth pastor at Grace Christian Fellowship in Bay City from 2005-2007, then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Scott became the part-time youth director at FUMC Howell in 2009. He currently attends the University of Michigan, Dearborn and is pursuing a degree in history and philosophy. Scott and his wife Joëlle reside in Ann Arbor with their son Walter. Scott also moonlights as a tow truck driver. He enjoys massive plates of nachos and a good rowdy game of kickball.

 

Kevin Griffin, Contemporary Worship Director

Kevin holds a Masters Degree in Missions and Evangelism from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts Technology/Management from Berea College. He brings experience to FUMC from serving as the Director of Music at Arise UMC. He helped start a contemporary service at Croswell UMC some 14 years ago prior to working as a Missionary in Peru and Costa Rica. He has also served as an Assistant Camp Director at Camp Kinawind in Boyne Falls, MI. Kevin enjoys a good pun and likes to use humor as a way to open people’s hearts and minds to consider deeper truths of the Good News.
