A labyrinth is like a twisty-turny path that always takes you to the middle and then back out again. It's like a special journey to meet God in the center! When you're praying, you use your moving body to say how you want to be close to God.
The labyrinth is an ancient device, it was used to simulate a pilgrimage when traveling became too dangerous. A famous labyrinth is makered on the floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France.
Labyrinths are usually found outside, but you can also use something called a finger labyrinth. It's a small tool you can hold in your hand and use anywhere you like!
Movements to the practice
Imagine the center of the labyrinth as the secret place where you meet with God.
Let each step or movement to the center be a prayer made with your body, expressing your desire to be near God.
Notice how the path brings you near or swings you away from your goal.
When you reach the center, take a moment to enjoy God’s presence. Take at least a few deep breaths.
Follow the path back out, letting each movement be a prayer expressing your desire to be in the world with God.
The practice can be done along with other practices like:
Breath prayer
Dance
Intercession
Rosary
